Todays daily logo challenge was to create a logo for a coffee shop. As usual there were name suggestions to work with but on this occasion I wasn’t inspired by what was offered. What did inspire me was the first part of the email that said this email is being written from a coffee shop in Ho Chi Minh City.
This got me thinking about Vietnam culture and religion. Leading me to wonder what creatures (both mythical and real) form part of that culture. Some quick online research brought me to the British Library Asian and African studies blog entitled Mythical creatures in Vietnamese culture. In short the most mythical, sacred and significant animals are the dragon, the phoenix, the turtle and the unicorn.

I chose the phoenix for this coffee shop logo as one of the characteristics of the phoenix is as a symbol of peace and what the Phoenix Coffee House offers is a place of calm and tranquillity. Whether you are meeting up with friends, working on a project or just watching the world go by everyone can find there own bit of peace and quite.
